Shelter Island is a peaceful retreat located between the North and South Forks of Long Island, accessible only by ferry.
The island is approximately three hours from New York City and can be reached from either Greenport (North Fork) or Sag Harbor/North Haven (South Fork).
Getting Here
The ferries run every 10–15 minutes throughout the day and are quick, scenic rides (about 5–10 minutes). You can either drive your car on or walk aboard as a foot passenger — both are easy and well-marked.
- North Ferry departs from Greenport, NY (North Fork | Last North ferry is 12:45 AM) We will be adding an additional North ferry after hours if needed
- South Ferry departs from North Haven, NY (South Fork | Last South Ferry is 1:45 AM)

Cash only and must be purchased in person. No reservations are needed.
